Filippo Juvarra's Drawings - The coat of arms of Pope Urban VIII by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in St Peter's St Peter's was built over a long period and one can identify by the coats of arms when a certain part was completed. While the Cupola (dome) was completed under Sixtus V the central part below it was decorated during the pontificate of Pope Urban VIII. Four gigantic statues are in niches in the pillars supporting the dome and one of them is the St. Veronica by Francesco Mochi (in the background of this page). Immediately above there is this coat of arms of the pope by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and chosen by Filippo Juvarra.
